Chiropractic and Osteopathy are two distinct fields of health practices that focus on treating problems related to the musculoskeletal system. While there are some similarities between them, there are important differences in their approaches and philosophies.
Main approaches in Chiropractic and Osteopathy
The Chiropractic focuses mainly on the treatment of disorders of the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system.
For Chiropractic, many health conditions are caused by a bad alignment of the Vertebral Column, affecting the nervous system, which is fundamental to the overall health of the body. Chiropractic uses manual techniques, such as Spinal adjustments and joint manipulation, to relieve pain, restore movement function and promote healing.
On the other hand, Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body has the ability to heal itself and that structural and functional balance is fundamental for health. Osteopathy uses techniques similar to those of Chiropractic, such as joint and soft tissue manipulation, but may also include other methods in addition to direct manipulation.
